I found this a while ago on my friend Cami's blog. I needed to hear it then and I remembered it again today so I thought I would borrow it and share.....
"What can . . . young mother[s] [do] . . . to reduce the pressure [of raising young children] and enjoy [their families] more? . . ."Recognize that the joy of motherhood comes in moments. There will be hard times and frustrating times. But amid the challenges, there are shining moments of joy and satisfaction."Author Anna Quindlen reminds us not to rush past the fleeting moments. She said: 'The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. . . . I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of [my three children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less' (Loud and Clear [1004], 10-11)."M. Russell Ballard, "Daughters of God," Ensign, May 2008, 109
I feel like that there are times I have been good at this and times where I am wishing the time away hoping to get to an easier less stressful time in my life. Lately I have definately been wishing the time to pass quickly so we can finish all of this moving around business and get settled in. Today was a rainy Saturday, Danny was gone and I was not looking forward to the day. However I decided that I was not going to do any laundry or any cleaning but just simply relax with my children. I needed some one on one time with each of them so I took it. Let me tell you what a difference it made. We laughed and played games, we made mess and left them for later, we all climbed in bed and watched the old VHS Winnie The Pooh movies and wrestled and danced and we were just silly all day. Danny surprised us and came home early and things got even more silly, we had a great day. Each one of my children are a blessing and a joy to be with and I am so greatful for the little reminder to slow down and enjoy the moment.

I'm glad I checked our blog tonight because I saw your note! I can't believe you guys are back in Calif, but I'm so happy that you get to be near your family again. I've tried calling your old number but it doesn't work. You probably have a new number, but email me at: dirknrory@hotmail.com and we can talk more! Love you! by the way, I totally second your feelings about raising kids! It's hard work but SO much fun and SO rewarding!
This was a totally cute post.
Thanks for sharing and inspiring me to take the little moments and Cherich them. It is so easy to get caught up in the routine!
You are amazing and wonderful for the mother that you are...to understand that you have them for such a short amount of time, and that you are willing to be "silly" with them are things you will never regret! How we miss and love you all!xoxoxoxo
